Amy Rosenthal

Amy Rosenthal is a Social Science Research Analyst at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service. She manages research projects related to the Child Nutrition Programs, on topics including farm to school, fresh food preparation, and equitable benefits access. Prior to joining the USDA, she worked for eight years at School Food Focus, a New York City-based non-profit that helped the country's largest school districts purchase more healthful and regionally-sourced food. She has published several journal articles and book chapters on school food and other food assistance topics. 

Amy completed a PhD in Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University in 2020, for which her dissertation focused on staff and student perspectives on the National School Lunch Program. She also has a Masters degree in Food Studies from New York University and a Bachelors degree from Stanford University. She currently lives in Washington, DC but remains a New Yorker at heart.
